Room Leaders are an essential part of every nursery environment. As a Nursery Room Leader, you will be entrusted with the day-to-day operations of your dedicated room and required to nurture and care for the children placed under your supervision, all while fostering a stimulating and enriching learning environment in which they can thrive.

Your responsibilities will also include overseeing other staff members, and sharing your knowledge and skills whenever appropriate, in order to help them develop.

The Responsibilities And Requirements Of The Role:

• Provide a stimulating learning environment to children in your care, including indoor and outdoor enrichment. Activities should be culturally sensitive, and appropriate for the children’s ability level and interests
• Ensure that the educational, safety, and welfare needs of the children in your care are met, to include following all the required safeguarding procedures
• Provide support and assistance to team members to ensure effective day-to-day nursery management
• Ensure all government/OFSTED regulatory requirements are met
• Identify gaps in staff training that need to be addressed
• Establish positive relationships with children, parents and guardians, and other team members
• Promote principles of diversity and inclusion, to include providing support for children with additional learning needs
• Maintain a positive working relationship with the Nursery Manager, including taking on other assigned roles and responsibilities where required
• Be a positive role model for team members and the children in your care
• Keep daily diaries and ensure they are published promptly
• Other relevant duties as required

Necessary Qualifications

Applicants for this role must hold a Level 3 or above qualification in early years childcare.

You will need to have an in-depth understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, including OFSTED guidelines. You must also have experience of working with children in a nursery setting, and applicants with leadership experience are preferred.
