Nursery Manager

We are currently looking for a reliable Nursery Manager to provide professional leadership and ensure that this nursery runs effectively each day on a fixed contract to cover a period of maternity leave.

What will you be doing:
• Promote high standards of quality within the nursery in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
• Ensure that all children attending the nursery receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• Role model and mentor your nursery team to ensure the highest quality early childhood practice and experience for all children, including children with special education needs and/or disabilities
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery, holding overall responsibility for the day to day running of the nursery and management of safeguarding and child protection policies – monitoring and improving practice and behaviours that underpin our high-performance safety culture
• Responsible for all administrative duties associated with the nursery, such as maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment, maintaining inventories, and keeping personnel records.
• Engage with the Local Authority to understand the local offer, to support practice in all areas of the nursery
• Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations.
• Be responsible for ensuring the nursery remains compliant in respect of suitably trained staff with relevant first aid qualifications.
• Agree and deliver occupancy targets.
• Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise all staff to ensure delivery of high-quality childcare practice.
• Work in partnership with Regional Nursery Manager to identify succession plans for the nursery team and nurture, create and continuously develop the next high performing practitioners and Heads of Rooms, building the most exceptional in the sector.
• Ensure that all staff develop and maintain friendly and professional relationships with parents and carers.
• Take part in an exciting rebranding and be involved in the development of the setting.

What we’re looking for
• Full and Relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification (essential)
• Experience within an Early Years leadership role (ideally as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager or similar)
• Experience of participating with a regulatory inspection, leading to a “Good” or “Outstanding” outcome
• Experience of developing high performance teams, with effective regulatory compliance, quality improvement, delivery of high-quality pedagogy, innovation and service excellence
• Confident decision maker, with ability to support change and the understanding of the complex relationship between business/commerce and service excellence within a regulated setting
• Strong knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and the wider legislative requirements for working with children
• Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with colleagues, parents and external partners
